The obsession when you lose weight is that the world now becomes very interested in how you did it. What diet did you follow? how often did you go to the gym? and how long did it take?
Don’t worry, the before & after weight transformation blog is coming with precise details on how I lost 70 pounds.
This week I want to focus on food choices.
First, let's get out some important facts;
I am NOT a professional nutritionist or food coach expert.
This is NOT an advice blog on what you should eat to lose weight.
This is WHAT WORKED for ME while I was getting my health back on track.
By week two of starting my new trend of getting up at 5am (morning routine), I noticed that making healthier food choices became easier. In the beginning, it wasn’t so much for weight loss but to continue to improve my overall path to better health.
I read a book called “Bright Light Eating” by Susan Peirce Thompson, which gives an overlook of scientific studies on how sugar and flour affect the brain like heroin and cocaine in terms of addiction. The book also has a pretty incredible and easy-to-follow diet plan for weight loss which includes;

No Sugar
No Flour
Only 3 meals a day (no snacks or eating in between meals)
Weight and measure quantities of food according to her specific food plan.
(Don’t just follow this diet plan without reading the book first)
I figure with a busy life/work schedule, eating 3 meals a day was pretty easy to follow. It took about 3 weeks of measuring food to get the hang of it, which I felt was the most important part. I measured everything very precisely, without going over or staying under the recommended measurement. I have never been a fan of meal prepping because I personally enjoy my food fresh and not heated up and preparing each meal always gave me a time of gratitude and peace.
If you know me, you know this to be true… I LOVE SUGAR!
I followed the BLE diet strictly for 4 months before diving into the biggest ice cream bowl ever! I wanted to treat myself since at that point, I had already lost about 45 pounds. I took my daughter out for ice cream and got the biggest size, with extra whip, and chocolate fudge and my mouth was watering before the first bite. I probably had about 3-5 spoons before I was “full to the max” and had the worst stomach pains for the remainder of the day.
I realized that I had gotten so used to eating small portions that going for ice cream after a lunch meal was the worst idea. My stomach was basically acting as if I had just eaten my 2nd (possibly 3rd) round of Thanksgiving dinner.
Today, as I am currently maintaining my weight, I do stick to 3 meals a day as I have gotten so used to this habit. I tend to eat more carbs for breakfast/lunch and have a lighter dinner without eating past 6:45pm. I def treat myself to some sugar once a week, like ⅛ piece of a Crumbl cookie or gushers (I am obsessed with gushers).
WATER WATER WATER → 1 gallon a day! You get used to peeing more often but so worth it. I do have a small cup of coffee every morning and some days I will treat myself to a latte.
